Is grain-free food good for dogs?
Not necessarily. While grain-free dog food has become popular, it isn’t automatically better for your pooch. Unless your dog has a specific intolerance or medical reason to avoid grains, there’s no need to cut them out. Some of our recipes are naturally grain-free (because they don’t need grains), while others use gentle, healthy grains, so there’s something to suit every pup.
Do you offer grain-free puppy food?
Yes, we do offer several grain-free options suitable for puppies! Our entire range of wet food is grain-free and suitable for puppies from 8 weeks. If you're looking for a dry food, our Puppy & Toy Breed Kibble is gluten-free, but does contain grains. However, if you have a larger breed puppy, our Salmon Dry Dog Food and Turkey Dry Dog Food are both grain-free and suitable for larger breed puppies (due to the larger kibble size).
Why choose Grain-Free Dog Food?
Grain-free dog food is a popular choice. Many dogs digest meat and vegetables more efficiently than wheat, maize and gluten. Removing these grains can help reduce tummy upsets, gas and itchy skin. Our grain-free dog food is made using high-quality ingredients, with no artificial additives or unnecessary fillers - just the gut goodness your dog needs to thrive.
Is grain-free the same as gluten-free dog food?
Not always. Grain free recipes avoid grains entirely, while gluten-free foods avoid only gluten-containing grains like wheat. All Scrumbles grain-free recipes are naturally gluten-free too.
Is grain-free dog food good for dogs with allergies?
It can be helpful for some dogs, especially those sensitive to wheat or other grains. If your dog has recurrent skin or tummy issues, grain-free food may reduce irritation. For confirmed allergies, also check our Chicken-Free options.
